Figures revealed that last year the county was in a staycation boom post Brexit and this year is going to be one of the best summers for the tourism industry in Cumbria. This upturn has come as a relief for The Lake District businesses’ after the Floods and traffic chaos previously.
With the fall of the pound since Brexit visitors have been flocking to the UK from America, as for them it’s much cheaper now, and they are understandably making the most of it.
Due to the now increased expense to holidaying aboard, more people from the UK have been deciding to have their holidays in Cornwall, Scotland, Wales, Devon now than recent years. The Lake District, being one top ten of the most popular destinations of choice.
Motivations apart from price are fantastic views so lots of sightseeing, sailing trips,and experiencing local cultures and shopping trips.
Cumbria Tourism figures suggest that the favourite type of accommodation is self-catering accommodation although most hotels and hospitality businesses are reporting increase in sales over the last 12 months.
The tourist industry is one of the UK’s fastest growing industries and this boom is set to carry on for the next 10 years.
Businesses in Cumbria have however said that they would like to see more promotion for Cumbria tourism.
